Discover How Chiropractor In Las Vegas Assists In Helping Locals Get Hip Pain Relief

By Earlene Silversmith

The human body only has two ball and socket joints. One is the hip and the other is the shoulder. The hip has the additional complication of being weight bearing. The bones are supported by a complicated network of ligaments, tendons and muscles. It is common for people to have mild to severe pain in the hip area. People who suffer from hip pain should make an appointment with a Las Vegas chiropractic office.

If a minor injury occurs in the hip area it may be due to simple overuse. Initially the damage might be minor and very localized. Chiropractors refer to this as a micro trauma. The point where the injury occurred will develop some scar tissue. Scar tissue has the peculiar ability to branch out into surrounding tissue and form adhesions. The adhesions cause further problems because they restrict soft tissue, such as muscles or tendons, that should be flexible. At this point the pain escalates.

There are several traditional modalities that chiropractors will use, often in combination, to relieve the pain. Ultrasound can be very effective, as can massage by a knowledgeable massage therapist. Each injury and each patient is unique, but your doctor will know what is appropriate for your needs.

These methods have the shortcoming of not resolving the adhesions. In some cases the problem returns. A more recently developed methodology, Active Release Techniques, ART, does involve direct work on the adhesions with the knowing trained hands of your chiropractor.

The first thing the chiropractor does is locate the adhesions. His trained hands can feel the tension in the soft tissue. Once he has located the adhesions, he will use patented ART movements to massage and break up the adhesions. The tissue can then be flexible again and will not be the source of pain.

It is good for patients to know that hip pain is not necessarily an indication for surgery. In fact, surgery should be your last resort. The combination of regular chiropractic visits and ART frequently resolves the problem and relieves the pain. Consult your chiropractor and he will determine the best course of action for your needs.
